Point Pinole Regional Shoreline: Projects
Point Pinole – Atlas Bridge and Park Entrance Project – Beginning October 2010
Atlas Road Entrance Bridge Construction and Future Development Area
In October 2010, the Park District will begin a multi–phase project to build a second entrance area and other amenities at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline Park in Richmond. The new entrance will be near the center of the park at Atlas Bridge. The project will begin with removal of eucalyptus, a non-native tree species, and placement of fill dirt for construction of a bridge at Atlas Road to extend over the train tracks to the park. Additional stages include building a parking lot, picnic areas and interpretive center as funds become available. The Park District has been working with the community for many years on this concept. The District purchased this property across from Atlas Road and beyond the Union Pacific railroad tracks for a development area in 1996 and are working on this project as funds become available.
