OAKLAND, CA - Erich Pfuehler has joined the East Bay Regional Park District as its Legislative Administrative Manager. In his position with the East Bay Regional Park District, Mr. Pfuehler will be instrumental in the District's formulation and achievement of legislative and governmental affairs programs. He will also facilitate the activities of the District's volunteer Park Advisory Committee and support the Board of Directors regarding special district issues and organizations. "We are very fortunate to have Erich join our executive team and look forward to his leadership in this important time in our history," states General Manager, Pat O'Brien.

Mr. Pfuehler has over 14 years of experience working as a Congressional Aide. Most recently, Mr. Pfuehler served as District Director for first-term California Representative Jerry McNerney. His prior legislative experience was in Washington D.C. as an aide to former U.S. House Democratic Whip David E. Bonior, serving as his Chief of Staff and Executive Policy Advisor for Bonior's 2002 Michigan gubernatorial bid. As a member of U.S. House leadership staff, Mr. Pfuehler was specifically responsible for working within the Democratic Caucus to gain support for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and enacting legislation to tighten the standards on arsenic in our drinking water. Mr. Pfuehler was Rep. Bonior's primary environmental advisor for 10 years.

Mr. Pfuehler also served as the Associate National Political Director and State Director for Clean Water Action in California. He led the organization's strategic expansion into two new areas of work – on-the-ground organizing in the Central Valley Latino community and a much more sophisticated political program. In 2006, Mr. Pfuehler created and directed the highly successful Proyecto de las Voces del Valle Latino voter registration program in San Joaquin County which registered nearly 12,000 voters and established an organizing model that Clean Water is replicating elsewhere.

As a member of the Next Generation Oakland-based political consulting team in 2004, Mr. Pfuehler served as the primary campaign manager for the successful Measure CC campaign – a funding measure to support a zone of East Bay Regional Park District parks stretching from Alameda to Richmond in western Alameda and western Contra Costa counties.

Mr. Pfuehler received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Washington in Seattle. He and his wife, Sara Barth, live in Pleasanton, California.

The East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) is a special district operating in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, California, within the East Bay area of the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1934, it maintains and operates a system of 65 regional parks, over 98,000 acres and 1,100 miles of trails which is the largest urban park district in the United States.
