Anne Rockwell, supervisor of Robert Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda, has been promoted by the East Bay Regional Park District to become the new unit manager for the District's regional trails.
In her new position, Rockwell will be responsible for the park district's numerous regional trails in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. This position also oversees an Alternative Work Program, which offers select inmates opportunities to provide valuable labor to the Park District.
Rockwell is a U.C. Berkeley graduate and holds a degree in physical education. She has had a long career with the Park District, starting with her years as a lifeguard at Contra Loma and working her way up to park ranger and park supervisor. She has been a supervisor at Don Castro, Shadow Cliffs and Crown Beach, where she has worked for the last 13 years. An Alameda resident, Rockwell is a board member of Alameda East Bay Miracle League, a group working to build an accessible baseball field in Alameda.
Doug Siden, who represents Alameda on the Board of Directors of the East Bay Regional Park District, congratulated Rockwell on her new appointment and praised her community outreach that included the popular summer concert series, Friday Night Concerts at the Cove.
"Anne brings enthusiasm to everything she does and will continue to be an excellent representative of the District," says Siden.
A new park supervisor for Crown Beach is expected to be named next month.
