The Park District participates annually in:

• Martin Luther King, Jr., "Day of Service" in January. For information, call (510) 544-2515.

• Earth Day events in April. For information, call (510) 544-2515.

  2012 Earth Day Events include:

• April 14, Shoreline cleanup at Martin Luther King, Jr. Shoreline Park – Oakland:  All ages are encouraged to join us as we spend the morning cleaning up our shore and removing non-native plants our sensitive wetland habitat. (9am-12:30pm)

• April 14, Redwood Tree planting and invasive plant removal at Redwood Park – Oakland: Join us as we plant redwoods along a trail in Redwood park.  Volunteers must hike into and out of the worksite.  Lunch will be provided. 14 + years.  (9am-3pm)

• To register, please go to the State Parks Foundation website, at http://calparks.org/programs/earth-day/ and sign-up for the event at Martin Luther King or Redwood park.

• California and National Trail Days and Ivan Dickson Volunteer Trail Maintenance Program. For information, call (510) 544-2631.
